For many smaller employers a very real fear is of being taken to Employment Tribunal, with all the costs and stress that it involves.
In the year April 2011 – March 2012 there were a total of 186,300 claims although some of these were multiple claims. While the number of claims has been reducing in recent years, the prospect of a claim is still a concern to many employers.
Small businesses will often find that their own insurances do not give them suitable protection; however retained clients of QC People Management have the benefit of protection as long as a few simple rules are followed. As long as an organisation has taken (and followed!) advice from QC People Management on certain key events such as warnings and dismissals, then the organisation will be protected for Tribunal costs and awards of up to £100,000 through a policy arranged with Abbey Legal Protection.
Unlike many providers of Tribunal protection there is no need to be tied into a contract lasting for 3, 4 or even 5 years. For the majority of clients there is an initial contract period of 12 months after which just one month’s notice need be given
