Sometimes relationships between an employer and an employee get to a stage where the relationship is no longer viable moving forward. Sometimes an employer might want to end an employment relationship without the risk of further litiagtion. One way to protect the employer’s legitimate interests is to enter into a Settlement Agreement (used to be known as a Compromise Agreement) under which both parties agree to seperate in a managed fashion.

While the employee must have independent legal advice during the arrangement of a Settlement Agreement, this is not the case for employers.

Employers can get independent support in the development and implementation of a Settlement Agreement by contacting Quentin Colborn. He will talk through your objectives and develop an agreement tailored to your organisation’s needs. If appropriate he will support you in discussions with your outgoing employee and handle negotiations with their solicitor.
