The Government has today published the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Bill which proposes that employed parents will have the right to up to two weeks' paid leave if they lose a child under 18.  The Bill will give a right to time off for employees from day one of their employment and a right to time off with pay for those employees with 26 weeks' continuous service.  Employers will be able to recover all or most of the payment from the Government.

But don't hold your breath...the Bill is not expected to become law until 2020, and may be delayed by other legislation going through Parliamant.
